Ask the charger to send a message now (TriggerMessage)

post/v1/tenants/{tenant_id}/stations/{station_id}/trigger

Requires an API key

BootNotification, Heartbeat, MeterValues, StatusNotification or FirmwareStatusNotification on every protocol; DiagnosticsStatusNotification on OCPP 1.6; LogStatusNotification and TransactionEvent on OCPP 2.x. A message the station's protocol cannot trigger is refused with 422 trigger_unsupported, creating no operation. connector_id narrows it to one connector. Requires stations:control. The operation succeeds when the core sent the message; result.charger_status then carries the charger's own answer once it arrives (null until then: poll the operation; it is never resent). charger_status is Accepted, Rejected or NotImplemented; the requested message itself arrives as usual (station events, faults, meter values).
